Glorious Costa de a Luz

One of the first things that we did in March 2016 was our Trafalgar walk which, over time, has probably become our favourite walk on the Costa del La Luz. We park just after the Trafalgar turning and head through the pine woods to the beach – a popular spot for kite surfers. Then we follow the coast south-west around a headland and up to the Trafalgar lighthouse.

The views, along the Playa Faro de Trafalgar, from the lighthouse are always stunning! We scramble round the end of the lighthouse and follow the boardwalk down to the gloriously empty beach where we walk as far as we feel like and enjoy the waves and famous Costa del la Luz light. Turning back, we usually cut across the dunes to the Trafalgar access road and head back to the car, occasionally stopping off at Bar Las Dunas for refreshments.

On this trip, we took a week of Spanish lessons at the excellent Spanish at La Janda language school. We also spent time taking photos of the house having decided to promote Casa Colina Blanca as a holiday rental on AirBnB and Trip Advisor. As ever our local agent (De La Luz Properties) was a source of helpful advice and guided us through the property management services they would put in place. It’s proved vital to have a local agent on the ground to meet and greet as well as manage the property in our absence.
